one of our painters today told us that he was searching to buy a house in the jopad-patti areas (slums) of the western suburbs.. and guess what price he was asked to pay for a 120sq ft. room (12' X 10')
7 lacs! can u believe it..?
it is ridiculous how everyday more and more people like ME are moving to this over crowded, highly polluted and unhygienic metropolitan - "mumbai"
there are so many people already living here...
So, i have decided to start a "lets leave mumbai club" will come up with a better name i think..
ideally the "aim" should have been to make mumbai a better place..
but somehow i dont see myself doing that.
hence aim no.2 is - to try and relocate.. (run away from the problems)
escape..haha.
or at least the endeavour to leave ;-)
(slyly i have been thinking of relocating since past 2years)

i wonder who all can join..?
the non resident mumbaikars can join for sure
(if they care about making mumbai a better place...)

as of now i love living in Bombay and don't mind all the small problems here
(on good days i say that to myself...on bad days, i list down options of cities where i can relocate)
for example...
i pay rent which is exactly half of what i earn.. (ignore the "architects dont ever get paid well")
i have paid 1.35 lacs as rent in past 2years which is way beyond what we paid for 5years living & studying in vvnagar.
so much for the urban life..!
am i really enjoying it?
is it worth it? may be! otherwise, i would not have taken 2years to decide between bombay - no bombay..

as of now i feel i cannot live in a small town.
think i will always miss bombay if i move out.
(which is why i keep posponing the relocation plan... i feel all will be better next month..may be after that..)
but may be i will be happier and i'll have 2.5hours extra everyday to myself since i wont have to travel long distances. might save up some money to spend on other better things then paying huge rent & food bills..
anyways, i must go home now where i pay 200 bucks a nigh just to just crash and bathe.

gorbee gorbee..!

last sunday we went to pune, for a case study type visit. case study type cause we went there to check out a new roofing material to use in our current project (if we like the way it looks when installed & the way it ages)
the material is not so hot.. so we might not use it. but the trip was still worth it. we met some very interesting people that day.
also i met the biggest & sweetest dog ever named gorbee!!

here is a picture for scale! its a bit blured.. but u get the idea of how huge gorbee is.

on our way to his house i was told stories about his size, but i still didnt imagine him to be so big..

he was just adorable. i hugged him also :-)
